ANTALYA (TUR) — The European archery community is gathering in the coastal city of Antalya, Türkiye, as the 2026 World Archery Europe (WAE) Congress is officially set to convene on Sunday, 17 May 2026.

Serving as the administrative prelude to the highly anticipated European Outdoor Championships (18–24 May), this year’s Congress will bring together delegates from member associations across the continent to review institutional governance and shape the future of the sport in Europe.

Key Highlights on the Agenda

The 2026 Congress features a comprehensive agenda packed with crucial discussions, institutional votes, and strategic planning aimed at continuing the robust development of European archery. Main topics of discussion include:

  • Elections and Nominations: Member Associations will cast their votes to fill key vacancies within the WAE Executive Board and various permanent committees to guide the federation over the next cycle.

  • Motions and Amendments: Delegates will debate and vote on proposed constitutional changes and motions, including Motion 11, which introduces updated frameworks for World Archery Youth Judges.

  • Future Calendars and Major Events: The Executive Board will provide progress updates on upcoming major fixtures, including the 2027 European Indoor Championships in Samsun (TUR) and the qualification pathways for the Istanbul 2027 European Games.

  • Liaison and Committee Reports: Comprehensive activity reports from the Judge, Medical, Development, and Para-Archery committees will highlight technical milestones and growth achieved over the past year.

A Word from WAE Leadership

The WAE Executive Board, led by President Mario Scarzella and Secretary General Alessandra Colasante, extended a warm welcome to all international delegates, officials, and guests arriving in Türkiye.

“The Congress represents a vital moment of democracy, unity, and collaboration for our sport. Convening here in Antalya allows us to celebrate our recent milestones—such as our highly successful indoor and para-archery events earlier this season—while establishing a clear, ambitious roadmap for our athletes and member associations moving forward.”

Setting the Stage for Elite Competition

Immediately following the conclusion of the administrative sessions, the focus will shift seamlessly from the conference room to the shooting line. From 18 to 24 May, the European Outdoor Championships 2026 will take center stage at the same venue, where the continent’s elite archers will battle for continental glory and crucial early outdoor season momentum.

Updates, official minutes, and election results will be published directly on the World Archery Europe website following the conclusion of the event.
