The 20th WAE Congress took place on 17th May 2026, alongside the European Championships in Antalya (TUR) with 39 Member Associations represented by delegates or proxies.
Delegates elected Hakan Cakiroglu (TUR) as the World Archery Europe President succeeding Mario Scarzella, who completed a 20-year presidency.
Jorg Brokamp (GER) and Julien Megret (FRA) were elected as Vice Presidents.
Arnoud Stribjis (NED) and Rifaat Chabouk Jokhadar (ESP) were elected as Board Members for a four-years term, while Maya Shalaby was elected for a 2-yers term.
Mario Scarzella was named Honorary President and received a golden arrow for his longstanding contributions to Archery in Europe.
Elections also took place across WAE permanent Committees.
Youth Development Committee: Matija Zlender (SLO), Pierre Jangnas (FRA) were elected with a four-year mandate.
Judge Committee: Sabrina Steffens (GER) and Nicolaas Buitenhuis (NED) were elected for a four-years term
3D & Field Committee: Per Christian Stensgaard (NOR) and Elizabeth Rees (GBR) were elected for a four-years term
Para Cimmittee: Serdar Satir (TUR) was elected for a four-year term, while Gemma Louise Underwood (GBR) was elected for a two-years term.
DTAC: Katerina Plakouda (CYP) and Farid Khalilov (AZE) were elected for a four-years term, while Benedetto Renzetti (ITA) was elected for a two-years mandate.
Prof. Dr. Ugur Erdener, WAE Honorary President, was awarded with deepest appreciation for his lifetime commitment to Archery. World Archery Secretary General Raul Calin and World Archery Executive Director, Juan Carlos Holgado were awarded with appreciation for the WA invaluable support and partnership.
WAE Secretary General Alessandra Colasante was awarded with gratitude for the exceptional contribution and dedication to World Archery Europe.
The following retiring Board Members were awarded and thanked for their years serving: Jean-Michel Cleroy (FRA) and Sabrina Steffens (GER).
Klaus Lykkebaek (DEN) was awarded with gratitude for his serving in the Judge Committee.
All the submitted motions and amendments were approved and passed.
