World Archery Europe is pleased to announce the appointment of Eva Cathrine Thesen (NOR) as Acting Secretary General, effective 1 September 2026.
Thesen brings extensive experience in international archery governance and sports administration to the position. She currently serves as Chair of the Constitution and Rules Committee and, in that capacity, as a non-voting member of the World Archery Executive Board.
Her involvement in European and international archery spans several decades. Thesen previously served as a member of the World Archery Europe Executive Board from 2004 to 2011 and has held several positions within the Norwegian Archery Federation. Her international experience also includes numerous appointments as Technical Delegate at major European and international competitions, as well as service as a Continental and National Judge.
More recently, she served as Technical Delegate for the 2022 European Archery Championships in Munich and the 2024 European Outdoor Championships in Essen, further adding to her experience in the organisation of European archery events.
With her extensive knowledge of the sport, international governance experience and long-standing relationship with European archery, Thesen will support the work of President Hakan Çakıroğlu, the Executive Board and the WAE administration in her role as Acting Secretary General.
