Archery will make its debut at the EPYGs with the Istanbul 2025 edition.
Athletes between the ages of 12 and 23 will compete in the recurve and compound bow, only in the individual competition and in a single class (males and females together).
On the Paralympic scene, archery made its debut in Rome 1960 (83 athletes took part, from 15 countries), after being a rehabilitation discipline used by Sir Guttmann in Stoke Mandeville to help disabled World War II veterans (the first tournament between wheelchair patients in 1948).
At the last Games in Paris 2024, 137 athletes from 47 countries competed. Great Britain and France are among the countries with the most tradition in Paralympic archery, having participated in 17 Paralympics.
