2026 Mediterranean Games Archery Competition Concludes in Taranto

Archery concluded its programme at the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto on Friday, bringing three days of competition within the multi-sport event to a close.

Following the qualification and elimination rounds earlier in the week, the final day featured the medal matches across all five recurve events, with individual, team and mixed team titles decided.

The team finals opened the programme. Türkiye’s Elif Gokkir, Gizem Ozkan and Dunya Yenihayat won the recurve women’s team gold medal after a 5-3 victory over France, while Spain defeated Italy 5-1 to take bronze.

In the recurve men’s team event, Spain claimed the title with a 6-0 win over France. Türkiye’s Berkay Akkoyun, Mete Gazoz and Berkim Tumer secured the bronze medal after defeating Italy 6-0.

France won the recurve mixed team competition with a 6-0 victory over Türkiye, while Spain completed the podium following a 5-3 win against Italy.

The individual medal matches followed later in the programme.

Lisa Barbelin of France won the recurve women’s title after defeating Spain’s Elia Canales 7-3 in the gold medal match. Paula Álvarez González of Spain claimed bronze with a 6-2 victory over Türkiye’s Elif Gokkir.

In the recurve men’s event, France’s Thomas Chirault took gold with a 7-1 victory over Italy’s Francesco Gregori. Spain’s Andres Temiño Mediel won the bronze medal after defeating compatriot Diego Conde Collar 7-1.

Chirault was the only athlete to leave Taranto with medals from all three events he contested, adding mixed team gold and men’s team silver to his individual title.

The final day completed the archery programme at the Mediterranean Games, with medals awarded across five events.
