After the European Championships 2018 in Legnica (POL), last 32 final quota places available for the Minsk 2019 European Games were assigned at the European Grand Prix in Bucharest (ROU).
After the Netherlands, France, Denmark and Ukraine upgraded single spots to full, three-athlete team places in the recurve categories, two additional recurve men’s and women’s places were added to the last individual qualification competition.
A total of 128 archers will compete at Minsk 2019, split equally between men and women; 96 in the recurve competitions and 32 in compound individual and mixed team events, which are being included in the European Games for the first time.
Only Belarus, Great Britain, Italy and Russia will field full, eight-athlete teams. A final 10 quota places, six recurve and four compound, are yet to be awarded as wild cards by a universality commission.
Spain’s Miguel Alvarino Garcia and Germany’s Karina Winter won the individual titles at the first European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2015.
